totally totally understand the feeling have gotten out of many such trip with various excuses like college, exams, tests, work, deadlines, meetings!! :P (you get the drift right?! :)) and yea, if you don't want to go, then don't go.... :)
if you really really don't want to go and can't say that (and i can u'stand if you can't say that honestly to them)... then make an excuse and opt out. it's best to go with your hunch.
What a familiar feeling I've had on so many occasions! Often I was pleasantly surprised at the end of the trip to realise that I HAD enjoyed despite having initial misgivings! But more often than not, my initial gut feelings have been proven right....
it better be normal 'coz it happens to me so many times that i would be classified abnormal if this phenomenon weren't abnormal.
despite my "all or nothing attitude", i am still in agreement with Stone's comment above... a little discomfort can be borne away in a shorter trip while still avoiding a long-term face-off/stand-off...
Oh, I know that feeling... But don't have any helpful advice for you at this time...except, just go with the flow. Good luck!

Agree with all the above comments - don't go if you don't want to, make a nice believable excuse :-)
ReplyDeleteOf course it is very much ok.Infact you want excuses? I have loads of them up my sleeve :-)
ReplyDeleteThis is tough. Just make a bahana and do what your heart says.

ReplyDeleteInstincts are often more right than the mind.
ReplyDeleteStart thinking of some valid excuse ;)
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I am sure it is! Afterall, if you are not happy being there, it would show, and that would be worse than not going at all!!!
ReplyDeleteI agree with what everyone says- trust your instincts and make an excuse.
