Prashant should not be the Indian Idol

I've not been an avid viewer of the singing talent show Indian Idol on Sony TV and have never watched the performances from the beginning except for a few episodes here and there. And whatever episodes I watched were more towards the end when only 4-5 contestants were left out.

Prashant sings well but still he should not be the Indian Idol. Because if you have ever heard his comments, he always, mark that ALWAYS calls himself a 'Nepali'. So if he is a 'Nepali', what is is he doing on INDIAN Idol. If he doesn't even once call himself 'Indian' why the hell should he be even part of this show.

He may be a good singer, the best of the lot but still he doesn't deserve to be on this show lest be crowned as the Indian Idol if he doesn't think of himself as 'Indian'.

  2. Shades of Chak de? :-)
I don't feel so uppity about him participating on a tv talent show, tho' if a non-Indian were to be nominated for PM/Prez, my views would be entirely different! :-D

  3. As the precedents already mention it is only talent show. Nepal is a small country. I doubt that they will ever do a show like this in Nepal. It would not be profitable enough, I guess.
And I am a German citizen, but I never say: I am a German. Nor does a Polish (by origin) living in Germany.
The guy is also being honest. He could say a lot of things to please you, if he wanted to and if he knew that that is what you want to hear.

  4. I totally agree with you. Either he shouldn't be an INDIAN Idol, or they should change the name of the show. Why are they even allowing non-Indians on the show if it is "Indian" Idol?

  5. PG: I get your point. But still I do feel what I do since he has been living in India for so long and born and brought up here in Darjeeling.

  6. hmmmm...forget the nationality, first of all He is not a great singer, secondly as PG gave a good argument.

Anyways, we already have so many 'divisions in mind' other than caste creed and colour.

  7. I guess you cannot understand this. maybe you should live in another country and let your child or even give birth to one there, and then decide . Ha ha hah!
Any ways, I still stick to my opinion.

  9. Actually I feel sad for this pg person who is so conflicted. Is a german citizen but does not call him/her self a german? What is that supposed to mean? Wierd.

  10. Poppins, PG went to Germany after marriage and had her child there. She's been there for quite many years..I think about 10. I guess that will explain your question and you will also be able to get her point of view better!
